ProFractional skin resurfacing
is a new generation laser for patients who want dramatic results with minimal downtime. Unlike full-field skin resurfacing which removes an entire layer, the ProFractional laser creates microscopic channels deep into the dermal tissue. This effect stimulates the body’s natural healing process and increases the production of collagen. ProFractional ablation is a deeply restorative therapy that will strengthen the skin, dramatically improve tone and texture, and reduce the signs of aging. The procedure is entirely painless, minimally invasive and is arguably one of the best procedures for correcting acne scars, wrinkles and textural issues--- while significantly improving overall skin health and resilience for the long term. How does the ProFractional laser work?
The ProFractional laser emits narrow columns of light that penetrate deep into the dermis in a pixelated manner. Ablating small channels allows for excellent resurfacing results with minimal downtime. The ProFractional laser penetrates deep enough to activate fibroblast production and stimulate new collagen synthesis. The results are skin tightening, increased turgor and thickness, a smooth complexion and dramatically improved skin health. How many treatments do I need?
The number of treatments you need will vary depending on the condition of your skin, the results you want and how your skin responds to each treatment. One treatment is often enough to enjoy dramatic improvements in skin tone, texture and tightening. MedRoyal typically recommends 2-3 treatments, spaced 6-8 weeks apart, before following an annual maintenance protocol to maintain improvements. A more aggressive protocol may be advised to heal deeper pathologies such as acne scars or stretch marks. You should consult your MedRoyal doctor before booking an appointment for a ProFractional treatment. Whether you’re looking for dramatic, long-term results or subtle, temporary improvements, it’s important to understand all of your options. Patients with an untreated medical condition should notify the doctor prior to laser and light-therapies. MedRoyal doctors are primary care physicians, providing acute, chronic and preventative medical care. Schedule a consultation with our doctor to discuss your desired outcome and see if you are a good candidate for ProFractional laser skin resurfacing. Full-field/ProFractional resurfacing combination: for deep skin conditions.
One of the most powerful laser combination therapies available today is a full-field skin resurfacing followed by ProFractional micro-channel ablation. The initial full-field treatment removes any superficial irregularities, sun damage or premature signs of aging and achieves a much healthier, smoother and more vibrant appearance. After the damaged epidermal layer has been removed, the addition of the profractional laser treatment stimulates deep collagen remodeling in the dermis. This protocol is often necessary to heal deeper pathologies such as acne or stretch marks. Combination therapy
provides the ability, in one treatment, to externally remove wrinkles for immediate results while internally enhancing the dermal collagen framework to firm the skin and add dermal resilience for incredible long-term benefits. The combined effect of adding the ProFractional laser to a full-field skin resurfacing treatment is superior cosmetic results with no additional downtime. Schedule a consultation with our doctor to discuss your desired outcome and see if you are a good candidate for full-field skin resurfacing and ProFractional combination therapy. The difference in laser skin resurfacing with Dr Shell
Dr. Shell operates a Sciton erbium:YAG laser, the pinnacle of laser resurfacing technologies. Your physician has the ability to precisely tailor treatments to each unique pathology, desired outcome and tolerance for downtime. When compared to the infamous (for side effects) yet popular CO2 resurfacing laser, the erbium laser has a much higher absorption to water, which minimizes heat deposition into the skin. Due to this feature, the side effects that are common with other resurfacing technologies are rarely observed with a Sciton laser, even in very deep treatments. Simply stated, if you want the very best resurfacing results, laser skin resurfacing at MedRoyal is your solution. Pre-treatment considerations
General post treatment care and expectations:
- If you have previously suffered from cold sores, there is a risk that this treatment could contribute to a recurrence. Notify your physician so that we can prescribe the appropriate medical care in advance.
- No one who has taken Accutane within the last 12 months should have this procedure
- No one on anticoagulants should have this procedure
- This procedure necessitates a post-treatment wound-healing regimen that must be followed. It is important to follow your physician’s instructions and recommended skin care products to ensure the shortest healing time
- Erythema (redness), edema (swelling), and a sunburn sensation may be noticed in the treatment area for a couple of days after treatment
- Peeling or flaking of the skin may last from 2-5 days depending on the depth of the resurfacing performed
- Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 4 weeks post-treatment. Daily application of a broad spectrum sunblock with titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide as the primary ingredients should be used.
